Why We Work with Solid Precious Metals

Throughout our collection and bespoke commissions, we work exclusively with solid precious metals — Fairmined silver & gold and 100% recycled gold, silver & platinum — because we believe jewellery should be made to last. Unlike gold-plated or vermeil pieces, which wear away with time, solid gold endures. It can be repaired, resized, reworked, and passed down — a true modern heirloom. This durability means every piece we make can evolve with you, rather than being replaced.

There’s something quietly powerful about that. In a world of fast fashion and fleeting trends, investing in solid, ethically sourced materials is an act of longevity and intention.

At KIND, our gold is sourced through two trusted pathways: Fairmined and 100% Recycled.

Fairmined gold supports small-scale miners and their communities, ensuring safe working conditions, fair pay, and environmentally responsible practices. It provides full traceability from mine to market — so you can feel comfortable knowing your jewellery has only had a positive impact on the people within it’s supply chain.

Alternatively, we use 100% recycled gold and platinum from Vipa Designs Limited & Cookson Gold. Our recycled metals generally come from old, unloved pieces of jewellery. This metal is refined and any impurities removed before being alloyed into the desired colours and carats so it is ready to re-purpose into a new design. By working with these materials, we can give new life to natural resources which already exist in circulation and reduce the demand for new mining.

Our Fine Collection is crafted using 100% recycled 9ct yellow or rose gold, or recycled sterling silver — metals chosen for their beauty, durability, and low environmental impact. For our bespoke customers, there is complete flexibility in material choice: your piece can be made in 100% recycled or Fairmined 9ct,14ct or 18ct yellow, rose, or white gold, as well as platinum. Every option offers a balance of elegance, strength, and sustainability — allowing you to choose the precious metal that feels most personal to you.
