Mens wedding rings

Over the past five years, we have had the pleasure of working with a huge number of KIND customers on their wedding rings for their upcoming nuptials. It's always an incredible honour for us to be a part of this deeply personal journey, and nothing makes us happier than seeing our customers' faces light up when they receive their final pieces.

From signet rings to hammered bands, we have loved working on some incredible and intricate designs. Today we are highlighting 5 things to consider when choosing your wedding band.

Although we frequently discuss the stages involved in designing women's wedding and engagement rings, we want to shine the spotlight on men's wedding ring styles and the process of creating them.

CHOOSING THE PRECIOUS METAL

If you're looking to design your own men's wedding ring, selecting the right precious metal is a great starting point. Your choice of metal will determine the colour foundation of the ring. KIND is committed to using only sustainably and ethically sourced materials, ensuring that every piece of jewellery that you wear has a positive impact on our planet and the people we share it with.

If you're leaning towards a silver hue, it's essential to understand the differences between precious metals such as platinum, silver, and white gold. You can check out our blog post, "Platinum Vs Silver Vs White Gold," to get an in-depth understanding of these metals.

On the other hand, if you prefer a gold finish, there are two main options - rose gold and yellow gold. Both are available in 9ct, 14ct and 18ct, and you can choose to use Fairmined or 100% recycled gold. You can also read our recent blog post, “Recycled Gold VS Fairmined Gold: How to choose” to gain a better understanding about these two options.

Another option is to repurpose existing jewellery to add an extra layer of sentimental value to your ring. You can melt down and redesign precious metals from inherited pieces. This way, you can incorporate family heirlooms into your design and create something truly unique.

THE SHAPE

Deciding on the general shape of your ring should be the first step after choosing your precious metal, as the basis of the shape will determine the overall style of your ring.

The most popular styles are our curved Vega band which is gentle and timeless, the flat band which is a more contemporary design or something in the middle which combines elements of the two.

While some men prefer a simple wedding band, others may opt for a more intricate signet ring. Signet rings can be engraved with symbols, crests, or a loving message.

THE WIDTH

After deciding on the shape, the size and width of the ring is the next focus point. The width can guide the style between slim and sleek, and chunkier and bold. Whilst the most popular band widths that we created in the KIND studio are; 3.5mm (slim), 4mm (standard), 4.5mm and 5mm, we also work with chunkier designs that are over 5.5mm. The photos above showcase a 3.5mm, a 4.5mm and a 5.5mm ring.

THE FINISH

There are countless ways to make your ring truly one-of-a-kind, and choosing a unique finish is a great way to put your own personal twist on your design. At KIND, our studio has worked on numerous rings featuring matte, smooth polished, sparkle hammered, heavy hammered, and rough carved exteriors. If you already wear rings on your fingers or wear a watch or glasses, it's worth considering how the finish of each design will complement the other when worn together.

ADDING GEMSTONES

When it comes to wedding rings, many believe that diamonds are the only way to go – however, there are many other gemstones that can be incorporated into a wedding ring. Precious gemstones can add a personal touch to a wedding ring, especially if that stone has extra sentimental meaning to the wearer. If the gemstone included represents a special moment in the wearers life, is their birthstone or is a gemstone that has been in family heirlooms for generations, then the ring becomes much more than just a symbol of marriage. It becomes a representation of the wearer's personality and individuality.

Gemstones can also be a great way to add some colour and personal style to a men's wedding ring. While traditional wedding bands are often kept simple, adding a gemstone can make the ring stand out and reflect the wearer's personal style. Gemstones come in a variety of colours and can be paired with different metals to create a unique and eye-catching design.

At KIND, we take great pride in ensuring the gemstones used in our designs are 100% conflict free. You can learn more about where our gemstones are sourced from on our blog ‘The KIND Supply Chain’.
