The KIND supply chain

Sustainability has been at the core of KIND Collection, since day one. As a business (and individuals), we are highly conscious of the impact that our actions can have on the planet, and we are always looking for ways to reduce our footprint. We believe that less is more and encourage our community to vote with their pound, consider their purchases, and do their research about the brands they are supporting.

But it can be a total minefield, right?

Today we would like to highlight our supply chain – from mine to market, so you can purchase from KIND Collection, knowing that your jewellery has been made consciously with the hope of having a positive impact to our wider world community and the planet we call home. We are a fully transparent so If you have any questions or would like to know more about any of our suppliers, processes & practices then please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

THE COLLECTION

Our entire collection is made using solid precious metals to ensure it’s longevity. Each design is cast in 100% recycled Silver & 9ct Gold. We love that these materials can be so wonderfully recycled. What was once cherished by one person can be melted down, redesigned and repurposed into a beautiful new piece for another person and so the cycle continues. Our recycled materials are sourced from Vipa Designs Limited – a UK based casting house that source 100% recycled and traceable Fairtrade and Fairmined metals.

BESPOKE PROJECTS & WEDDING JEWELLERY

Our bespoke customers have the choice of designing their jewellery in 100% recycled Silver, Gold & Platinum, or alternatively can opt to work with Fairmined Silver & Gold metals. KIND is proud to have been a Fairmined Licencee since 2017 and to date has created pieces using over 140gms of the material. Fairmined works to ‘transform mining into an active force for good’. The metal is newly mined by small artisanal mines, which are accredited by the organisation and works to incentivise positive mining practices. This ensures that workers are respected in regards to their safely, rights & wages – and they also offers full transparency from mine to maker. It works closely with the Alliance of Responsible Mining to help implement change in the industry from the ground up. You can read more about Fairmined precious metals, here.

DIAMONDS

As diamonds are frequently sought after for wedding and engagement rings, they are a popular gemstone in the KIND studio. We work very closely with our suppliers to ensure that every stone that we include in our jewellery has been ethically sourced, can be fully traceable, and is 100% conflict free. The diamonds at KIND have been sourced from a number of sources depending on the needs for each specific project our suppliers include Ocean Diamonds for diamonds which are hand picked from the sea bed off the coast of Namibia and South Africa. Fair Trade Gemstones for Canada Mark Diamonds which are mined in the North West Territories of Canada and work within a closed supply chain to ensure their provenance. Our more unusual Salt & Pepper Diamonds are sourced from Calab Q Quashen in California who work directly with family run mineds in Botswana to sources their stones. Each supplier has a strong focus on implementing change within the mining industry as a whole and hopes to create a safer future for the workers and their winder communities.

PRECIOUS GEMSTONES

Gemstones feature quite prominently in our bespoke and collection pieces – We use a handful of trusted suppliers each of which we have developed a beautiful relationship with over the years. We have done our research to ensure they are traceable from mine to market – so you can know know the history of your gemstone. Each supplier has it’s own specialism and as each stone is unique we seek out the perfect stones to fit each design. A majority of our Sapphires, Rubies & Emeralds are sourced from Fair-Trade Gemstones which is a family run business and has operated for over 40 years. For more unusual Sapphires we work closely with Nineteen48 which operate their own mines and cutting houses in beautiful Sri Lanka (a place very close to our hearts). For Emeralds and Amethysts we source directly from Brazil Gemstones which is another wonderful family run business.

At KIND Collection, we aim to be 100% transparent about our suppliers, manufacturing processes and the materials used. If you have any questions or would like to know more about our jewellery, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

With love,

KIND
