Engagement Ring Trends, 2022

Wedding season is nearly upon us, and before the weddings come the engagements! At KIND, we adore working with couples to creating little wearable sculptures that represent a unique moment in life. A union, a celebration and a special date. Nothing brings us more joy than creating highly personal and unique pieces of jewellery for our customers who are celebrating milestone occasions in their life – and we love seeing the array of designs that are created to celebrate the moment in time.

Whilst every engagement ring should be unique and personal to the couple, there is no denying that trends have some influence over our choices, no matter how subtle. From A-list celebrities to wedding experts, there are certain engagement ring trends that come and go – but we always look to pin point the ones that are truely timeless.

01. Gemstones

Although in the past diamonds have been the traditional stone for engagement rings, we are seeing a rise in colourful gem being used to celebrate the commitment of love. From Megan Fox’s recent Emerald knockout to Katy Perry’s stunning Ruby ring, we are always love to see alternative stones included in engagements rings, as they often holds more symbolic and sentimental value (whether they have been passed down or are a birthstone).

02. Recycled jewellery

As part of our Recycle + Rework services, we help couples who have inherited a family heirloom turn the piece into something that they will wear and cherish forever. When it comes to engagement rings, the design needs to be personal – however the inherited stones and precious metals can be reused to ensure the sentimental value of the piece is still in tact. Over the past few years we have worked closely with a number of KIND customers to bring their dream ring to life, by including the materials from parents, grandparents and other significant figures in their lives.

03. Vintage rings

As we aim to move towards a more sustainable future, the number of vintage engagement rings is on the incline. Shopping vintage is the best way to promote sustainability as the elements have already been sourced from the earth and are in circulation. Each year, we source the finest vintage pieces from auction houses across the UK, and bring them back to life in the KIND studio. After polishing them and replacing any lost or loose stones, they become available online via our KIND Vintage Collection. We are pleased to share that our next collection of vintage jewellery will be available online over the next few weeks.

04. Gemstone cut

We have been pleasantly surprised to see more sculptural rings commissioned that include a contrast of gemstone cuts. Combining baguettes with rounds has become a popular choice for many newly engaged couples, and we love to see the creativity come to life! Trilogy rings are a style that we won’t ever see go out of style – however we often see couples adding their own contemporary twist to this traditional design with the inclusion of contrasting cuts.

If you are looking to commission a wedding or engagement ring, please don’t hesitate to reach out. The KIND founder, Tansy Haak, invites you to book an appointment via our website so we can discuss your ideas and inspiration. From start to finish, we will work closely with you to bring your vision to life – and staying true to the KIND ethos, we will ensure the entire ring has been ethically sourced and carefully hand crafted with love and care.
