Grace & Charlottes engagement story, with KIND Collection
An engagement story that is filled with instinct, intention, and a pair of truly meaningful rings.
When Grace first reached out to KIND Collection, she wanted to create an engagement ring for her partner, Charlotte. The brief was to design a ring that felt timeless, personal, and perfectly suited to Charlottes hands-on lifestyle. What began as a leap into the unknown quickly became a beautifully collaborative process, with Grace working closely with Tansy to bring her vision to life using ethical materials and thoughtful design.
Their story is a true reflection of what we love most about creating bespoke jewellery. It's not just about stones and settings — it's about celebrating individuality, honouring relationships, and crafting pieces that will last a lifetime.
After Charlotte said yes (through happy tears on beautiful Brighton beach), she returned to KIND Collection to design a ring for Grace — a perfect mirror of the love and care that went into the first.
From video consultations and surprise proposals, to double bands and forest green sapphires, this interview captures everything we adore about working with couples who are rewriting tradition in their own beautiful way. We are excited to share Grace and Charlotte’s story – so please enjoy reading about their process and experience with KIND, in their own words.

Grace, you first approached Tansy to design Charlotte’s ring as a surprise — how did you decide on the style and details? Had Charlotte dropped any hints, or did you just trust your instincts?
It was an exciting process working with Tansy - when you first start looking for rings it feels like a minefield. After hours of trawling through Instagram, TikTok and trying to learn as much as I could, I had a vague idea. But I really valued Tansy talking through each step and choice I could made. These were often were things I had not even considered having to make decisions on.
I had a clear idea in my head of what I wanted it to look like; simple, timeless but also personalised – and the Bezel setting was really important to me as Charlotte is constantly fiddling and has a job where she is using her hands. I also wanted it to be created ethically. The hardest part about being a woman was - I had to keep asking “is this what I want or is this what Charlotte wants?”. I knew I loved Oval Cuts but felt like an Emerald cut would be perfect for Charlotte.
I was surprised as I actually trusted my instincts and created a ring without Charlotte sharing what she wanted. Although, I was pleasantly surprised, as I’d already designed the ring with Tansy, and then Charlotte started showing me very similar rings… I was kind of annoyed as I wanted to say “this was my idea first”! I am glad I added the personal touches, such as making it stand out by adding a double band to signify both of us and to add something different to the ring.
You are based outside of London, how did you find the process of working with KIND remotely?
I spent a long time researching who to work with/where to buy an engagement ring. I reached out to about 4 places having a bit of back and forth on Instagram. I quickly found Tansy to be the most helpful, knowledgeable and kind with her time. She shared quick responses and was always on hand to answer my 101 questions as I worked out what I wanted. I panicked a little living in Leeds and not having somewhere local to pop to and view the rings/meet in person. Tansy kindly met up with me outside of her weekend slots in London whilst I was there for work so I could keep it a secret. I really benefited from meeting in person and going through all my options.

You planned an epic proposal in Brighton. Was there a standout moment and were there any unexpected surprises or memorable reactions?
Getting engaged in Brighton was so special, Charlotte grew up here and has many family members around, so it felt like the right place to propose. Coupled with my love of the sea, it just felt right. I managed to fully keep it a secret and Charlotte had no idea until I was down on one knee - it felt like a magical moment.
It all went by very quickly so I was very happy that I decided to hire a photographer to document all the emotions, joy and love. As someone who is more introverted, I was unsure at first about hiring someone to take pictures, but I knew Charlotte would love it and it took a bit of pressure off me on having to document the process. The photos turned out perfectly and our photographer, Kelsie, captured the pure joy and elation well.
The standouts have to be: Charlotte taking about 5 minutes to look at the ring because she couldn’t see through the tears. Getting stuck in the pebbles on Brighton Beach (please note - do not where sandals, wear trainers if you’re going to propose on a rock filled beach!). We then enjoyed a beautiful few days in our engagement bubble.
Charlotte, when it was your turn to design a ring for Grace, how did you approach the process? Were there any special details you wanted to include?
After Grace’s incredible proposal and seeing my stunning ring, it was an easy decision to message Tansy about designing a ring for Grace. I knew Grace’s experience was so positive so couldn’t wait to work with Tansy myself to make another beautiful ring! I’m a doctor so my schedule is a bit hectic and going down to London was going to be tricky - luckily Tansy offered a video call to discuss the design.
Chatting through my ideas with her was so easy and comfortable. She guided me through the process of choosing different elements of the ring and used sketches to demonstrate what she meant by various options, which really helped. I knew Grace wanted some colour in the ring and her favourite colour is green - so Tansy helped me choose a stunning Forest Green Sapphire to be the central stone. Her sketches really helped me to visualise how the ring would look overall and I felt really comfortable discussing ideas and designs.
