Inside Tansy's Jewellery Box

Inside Tansy's Jewellery Box is an intimate glimpse into the treasures and tales that fill the personal collection of Tansy Haak, the passionate founder and masterful maker behind KIND Collection.

At KIND, we believe that Jewellery is more than just adornment; each piece carries a story, a sentiment, a piece of history. Tansy's box is no exception. As the creative force of our ethical jewellery brand that champions sustainability and timeless design, Tansy’s selections offer a beautiful blend of past memories and modern elegance.

Today we are sharing a personal interview with Tansy, which will take us through the shimmering pieces that have marked significant moments in her life, learn about her style philosophies, and gather insights on how to curate a collection that's both meaningful and eternally stylish.

Tansy, can you give us a glimpse into your personal jewellery collection? What are some pieces you treasure most in your box?

I have always loved jewellery and as a teenager I was weighed down by chunky silver chain bracelets and was even guilty of piercing my own ears so I could fill my ears will hoops! I don’t recommend it, it’s pretty painful and the placement was never quite right!

I don’t wear the chunky silver pieces anymore but I can’t bare to part with them. Each piece marks a special birthday or milestone and I’m hoping my babes will all enjoy them when they are older.

My first piece of gold jewellery was this signet ring I designed with my mum. We had it made using some old chains and signet rings she had inherited from family. It's full of sentimentality and love. I was so excited and taken by the process and think that the experience played a huge role in my journey to launching KIND.

How has your own taste in jewellery evolved over the years, and how has that influenced the designs at KIND Collection?

Now, in my mid 30's, I am still covered in jewellery, but these days I have swapped chunky silver pieces for delicate Gold. I prefer 9ct generally as I love the tone against my skin and I tend to keep my own collection very simple. I like to stack different textures and layer my necklaces. My love of the moon and stars is always reflected in my designs. The Crescent Lune Pendant was the first piece I made and I am about to launch a solid crescent Lune which I am so excited for.

Are there any heirloom or vintage pieces in your jewellery box? How do you like to style them next to your other pieces?

I inherited this ring from my mum and I adore the deco style. It is really different to most of my daily jewellery and I like to bring it out when I need a little lift. My general style is quite casual but I like how adding this elevates any outfit and the contrast gives it an edge.

For someone looking to build a staple jewellery collection, what are the top three pieces from KIND Collection you'd recommend?

Style varies from person-to-person, but I like to think the versatility of a lot of my pieces allow them to appeal to a wide range of individuals. For example, the Full Moon Disc and the Otto Disc are great staples and can be engraved with an inscription or have a diamond or gemstone added to personalise them.

I personally like to layer my Otto Disc with my Horizon Bar Necklace which sits just above it. I love the shape it creates as a set and I have my kids names engraved on to them in my own handwriting. I have recently added a Star and Moon Charm (which will be launching online soon) for Etta, my youngest. I love how this hangs off the Horizon Bar Necklace making it beautifully chaotic, just like family life.

My 3rd choice would be the Wild Love Ring. I love how simple the design is but how it adds so much style. The Wild Love Ring can also be personalised with different precious gemstones and engravings, so it can be unique to my customers life.

When curating items for your personal jewellery collection, what do you prioritise most: sentimental value, aesthetics, versatility, or something else?

I think all 3 of those points... and the most successful pieces from my own collection encompass all 3 elements. The designs I feel most connected too and enjoy wearing the most are the ones I have designed for myself using materials which hold sentimental value to me.

Our KIND Rework x Recycle service is hugely popular for exactly this reason. We want to wear the pieces that are handed down to us, as they are filled with stories of our past. But to truly enjoy them we need them to represent our present style so we can weave our own story into them.

Versatility is key too as we want the pieces we wear day to day to compliment and elevate each other and work in different ways to create different looks.

Do you have any tips on how to stack your rings?

I LOVE a stack of rings! My tip is to play around with different textures, and look at how the light bounces off them. I also love to metals to create real definition between the different designs. For a dainty stack you can't beat out Demi Orbit and Hidden Orbit designs. For a bolder combination you can stack our Wild Love Signet with a bespoke diamond wishbone ring and Our Tide Ring . This stack is super unusual and looks really special.
